An open-source camera system for experimental measurements

We present an affordable, yet accurate and modular camera system solution developed on Raspberry Pi 4/4 GB platform with v2.x HQ modules 8 12.3 megapixels still resolutions, respectively. The uses freely available Python scripts libraries for digital image processing non-contact optical measurements under MIT licenses as a contribution to the open-source initiative. Several investigations were conducted system, which two-dimensional (2D) correlation (DIC) displacement strain analysis, kinetic analysis of photoisomerization spiropyran (a model time-dependent chemical reaction yielding molecules differing color respect starting material) time-lapse photography, lap shear tests assistance high-speed capturing contact (wetting) angle images photography. These studies show that setups can be confidently integrated into chemical, physical mechanical tests.
